Responsibilities:
As the lead developer for the Ohio SACWIS Java application, you will:
Gain a deep understanding of the applications to provide strong development and design for the best business outcome.
Actively participate in requirements and design sessions.
Develop Java code according to approved requirements and technical design.
Support Java applications and develop new Java applications based on desired requirement specifications.
Interact with prospective customers during product demos/evaluations.
Research and resolve code issues in the mobile and application segments.
Enhance efficiency of the development, test, and release process by developing tools and frameworks.
Engage in the full lifecycle development process.
Showcase adaptability to work in both agile and waterfall projects.
Provide the first level of quality assurance on new code functionality.
Consult with clients to define requirements and recommend solutions.
Generate, identify, and qualify methods of incorporating technology with standard industry practices.
Stay updated on technical trends and incorporate this knowledge to upgrade the systems.
Act as an advisor on industry alternatives, options, perils, and provide data on the advantages and disadvantages of these options for business processes and procedures.
Provide support for ongoing and recurring IT security audits of the system.
Collaborate with program/project management to develop appropriate technical solutions.
Advise on options, risks, costs vs. benefits, and the impact on other business processes and system priorities.
Required Experience:
7+ years' experience in designing and developing scalable web-based applications or relevant industry experience.
7+ years of hands-on programming and debugging skills in Java, JavaScript, JSP/Servlet, and J2EE design patterns.
Proficiency in PL/SQL programming.
Solid understanding of Service Integration Concepts, especially with RESTful services, SOAP-based web services, and IIB integration.
Experience using Git for code management.
Proficiency with Maven and JIRA.
Design and development expertise for Non-Functional Requirements, including performance analysis and tuning, benchmarking/load testing, and security.
5+ years of Oracle experience in database design, creating stored procedures, and optimizing SQL for quality execution.
Knowledge of XML, XHTML, prevalent XML parsers, and related technologies.
Proficiency in JSON and XPath.
Strong communication skills.
Leadership skills with some experience in managing others.
5+ years' experience in Ohio SACWIS or a similar Child Welfare system, preferably in the Financial area.
2 years of experience in IT with consulting experience preferred.
Preferred Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Understanding of standard protocols such as HTTP/HTTPS and session management concepts.
Experience in handling enterprise application deployment architectures, environments, and providing solutions to scalability, performance, availability, reliability, and security issues.
Working experience with one or more Java EE servers such as WebSphere, WebLogic application server, JBOSS, or Tomcat.
Good SQL knowledge and experience with at least one of the leading Databases like Oracle or SQL Server.
Project Delivery expertise including estimation, coordination, and client communication.
